ATTIC
Vanilla Accord, Western Red Cedar Heartwood EO, Osmanthus Attar, Sandalwood EO

Offered as a Perfume oil in the Manor Collection

NOT TO BE USED BY WOMEN WHO ARE PREGNANT OR NURSING.

Description: Shake gently before each use.  An aged cedar chest filled with fine fabrics, exquisite lace-overlay dresses, heirloom linens and crocheted tops, forgotten in the attic of the manor house.  The scent of this cedar chest and the soft mustiness of stored linens with the beautiful, yet faded, perfume of the owner still detectable upon the fabric is captured in the Attic Perfume.  A fine vanilla accord is paired with the most gorgeous red cedar heartwood EO, aged sandalwood EO and osmanthus attar.  Attic starts out strong, with a burst of the cedar EO and vanilla accord but mellows into a sweet, woody, slightly musty and dusty fragrance that is exquisitely atmospheric.  It shares some character with the Manor perfume and fans of Manor may enjoy Attic, especially if they like really gorgeous and true cedar essential oil.  This cedar smells just like an aged piece of dried cedarwood and pairs wonderfully with the other notes on the dry down.

This was an immediate hit for me! Angela is right, if you like Manor, I'm guessing you will more than likely like Attic! It is definitely a strong cedar, woodsy fragrance. Once it dries down on your skin, it is still a lot of cedar but with a creaminess to it. It is a great fall fragrance!

When I think of cedar, I think of the cedar chest my mother had when I was a child. It was so STRONG. I am usually not attracted to it in fragrances because of this strong association, but I loved the concept of Attic, and was particularly drawn to the osmanthus attar. I am so glad I took a chance on it! It's like a sweet, sad, old story. The osmanthus is lightly fresh and fruity, like skin, and the woodiness supports it beautifully...not at all overpowering. It's surprisingly delicate, and dries out kind of dusty, with soft fruity floral notes. All said and done, it's a LOVELY scent, wonderfully goth without being overbearing.

I love cedar and Attic is my favorite cedar scent.
This smells like cutting into a cedar tree, with the spicy-sap from real, freshly cut wood and a tiny hint of green.  Realistic and awesome.  It has that true, natural spiciness that cedar has, and that so rarely shows up in 'cedar' fragrances.  I can't pick out any of the other notes, but I am happy with that Very Happy
This stuff is beautiful and I absolutely treasure it.  It smells like being inside of a cedar tree and is just magical and so natural and awe inspiring.  It is my calm place.
I know this is discontinued now, but I hope it's reformulated one day.  It's beautiful.

My second favorite of the Manor Collection!

This scent reminds me exactly of the name... an old attic that has a very old cedar trunk which has been stored in the attic for a VERY long time. The cedar in this blend is different than other cedars I've smelled before. This one seems to be much more of a true cedar scent. It pairs very nicely with the vanilla and sandalwood. On the drydown, the Osmanthus gives me a scent of an opened cedar chest (which hasn't been opened in years) that stored clothing.. maybe even a wedding dress. It has a dusty, musty smell... which is amazingly atmospheric!

I knew from the description that this would be an interesting and thoughtful fragrance, but I had no idea how wonderful it would actually be. The wood, the brass, the dust, every aspect that is outlined in the description is there. Attic demonstrates Angela's total mastery of the art of perfume in both the control and balance of notes and the exquisite choice of ingredients. Like a piece of music I enjoy listening to, or a dish that enjoy eating, this fragrance is a pleasure to smell and get to know. I suspect that the cedar note is the foundation of the fragrance with the vanilla accord background having been chosen to compliment the wood. The other notes come into more prominence in the drydown with an overall, musty/dusty effect making Attic one of the most approachable wood fragrances on the market.

Wow! This scent is awesome! I actually enjoy the entire Manor collection, with Manor itself being one of my favorite SS fragrances.

Attic seriously smells like an attic! But one of the really cool ones Cool  To me it has a soft and dusty sort of woodsy scent. It also has a sort of sensual sweetness to it. Not a gourmand sweetness, but you know how sometime old wood has a sweetness to it? That kind of sweet.

This definitely is one of my top favorites from the Manor Collection

A very nice and smooth cedar (no pencil shaving type of smell) that has a wonderful sweetness enveloping it. I don't find the vanilla to be too overbearing or dominant, just gives the right amount of creaminess to and otherwise dry/astringent wood. Nicely balanced! The type of vanilla used here isn't one of those cakey/bakery ones, for anyone that was interested or picky with their vanillas (like I am Razz ).

I agree with the description, that as it wears on it has a dusty quality, and it's very evocative as well. It does actually bring to mind old favourites that you might have stashed away in a corner. This phase is the one I like most, because it just makes me feel almost a little ethereal, a little ghostly Razz

I would recommend Attic to those who found Master Bedroom to be a little too robust and sultry.

I have mixed feelings about this one. At first it has a really harsh cedar smell that I don't enjoy; in this stage I don't smell any vanilla at all. This is also the stage in which my first instinct is to wash it off immediately. After several minutes (too many if you ask me) it fades to a tolerable, but still too harsh scent of cedar (although now vanilla is present as well, very faintly). During this stage, the strange thing is that the scent I smell as the perfume wafts around me is actually quite pleasant; Maybe even really pretty. The way it smells when I sniff my wrist is still too harsh, but the smell of it as I move my arms or randomly catch a whiff on the air is just wonderful. The reason that I like this scent is the way it smells around me. This stage lasts for an hour or two, and then it fades into almost a faint Manor-like scent... very very faint. This part is nice too, as Manor is my favorite scent ever. The dry down is the only time I feel the two scents are similar. After about 3 hours this scent is completely worn off.

Basically, on me this scent is way too harsh at first, though the way it smells wafting around me is nice. I definitely am glad I didn't get a full bottle of this one, because it just doesn't like me. I seem to have no luck with cedar scents; Old Cedar Magus has too little cedar, and Attic has too much. While I do like the smell of cedar wood, I feel that the cedar in Attic turns a bit strange and harsh on my skin.

It does smell like an Attic though, so I don't know what I expected...

Attic brings to mind a antique cedar chest my mom had when I was growing up. The blankets we stored there would soak up the sharp, wooden fragrance which I always associated with times long past. I enjoy smelling this scent, but it's a little on the masculine side for me.

Holy cow this smells like pencils! In the best way. It smells like walking into an attic or an antique shop full of old chests and furniture, but there's no "old" smell here. My family always kept our Christmas things in our attic, and it was above our garage. It had one of those pull-down ladders on it that hardly seemed safe to use, but every year I wanted to go up it, and never could (because safety) until the magic had worn off. This smells like exactly what I expected to find; magic and gorgeous furniture and Narnia. Except minus the Narnia.

Memory flashbacks the second I smelled this. Love those kinds of smells! Opens a door to something you haven't thought of in years. Oddly enough though that memory was-- pet store. Yes, this was mostly cedar chips on me. Not that that's such a bad thing. I don't know if it's something I'd wear exactly but it's certainly an interesting smell. Vanilla shows up and adds some complexity. I can see the attic aspect of it as well if I look for it-- dust particles in the sunshine and cedar chests.

Attic is such an memory evoking fragrance!! Yes, the ambiance of an attic is definitely there, dark wood, lamp light, or that one bulb hanging from the ceiling, beautiful relics and mementos from the past, an attic with soul! But also, I am transported to cabins in the woods, and even a freshly cut cedar tree, the shavings, as they've collected on the ground! The cedar is strong at first, but as it dries and settles, it definitely mellows, settles nicely by the sandalwood and vanilla and is something so beautiful! I love you I love you I love you

I love the cedar! And luckily that makes up a lot of this scent. It has other, sweeter layers too, the vanilla-sandalwood-osmanthus that together come off as surprisingly like many a department-store perfume marketed to young women. That aspect of it reminds me of the halls of sororities or dorms, and the osmanthus gives it a hint of buttery tropical scent. However, the blend doesn’t smell synthetic like those perfumes sometimes do; it stays warmed by the natural cedar while still sweetened by that vanilla mix. On my wrists the vanilla/sandalwood ends up more dominant as it dries down, but on my shoulders under my shirt the cedar stays in force. Both become a bit dusty, in a pleasant way, and evocative of quiet indoor spaces (say, an attic). So all in all, the site’s description works very well indeed: a cedar chest full of dresses and linens on which you can still detect the perfume of the wearer from long ago. Beautiful.

Wow I love Attic!

The cedar is much stronger in the bottle, on my skin it's VERY similar to Manor but I like it much better. Manor on me is a savoury vanilla; (can't describe it any other way, it has a note that reminds me a little of curry/ fenugreek seeds), whereas Attic is just vanilla, cedar, osmanthus gorgeousness. The sharpness of cedar rounds out the fruity sweet osmanthus so well, I'm really impressed.

It reminds me very much of CB In the Library too, with that pencil shavings note (which in CBITL leans more to plasticky crayons). Definitely getting an FB of this!
