MAINE MOON
Crisp Fall Air, Wood Smoke, Leather Seats & Concessions of Root Beer, Popcorn & Chocolate Covered Caramels

NOT TO BE USED BY WOMEN WHO ARE PREGNANT OR NURSING.

Offered as Perfume and Whipped Soap as part of the Foxcroft Collection

It's a crisp fall evening, the convertible top is down and you are parked at an ideal vantage point for tonight's movie marathon. The scent of leaves, moss, dirt and wood smoke permeates the air. The leather seats are slightly cool against your skin. You have all the requisite supplies for getting down to some serious movie watching business: a large ice-cold root beer, a tub of warm buttery salted popcorn and a box of Milk Duds. The temperature of the evening is dropping rapidly and you decide to put the convertible top back up, effectively shutting out the scent of the night air. Fragrant sweet smoke becomes more prevalent as neighboring households opt to combat the chill by starting their hearth fires. The scent of root beer, chocolate covered caramels, wood smoke and popcorn swirls around you as suspend your belief for a few hours, completely transfixed by the large theater screen.

Suspend your belief with this unique and immersive scent. It's like nothing you have ever smelled before. Maine Moon begins with a burst of crisp air, leaves, dirt and moss mixed with a heavy blast of root beer. The chocolate appears directly behind the root beer, followed by the scent of popcorn that wafts in and out for several minutes. This fragrance morphs quickly. Within a few minutes the initial blast of outdoor air and the birch-like scent of root beer mellow. The popcorn and caramel wait in the wings to make their debut, flitting in and out of range for the first ten minutes. The outdoors notes recede and make way for a brief appearance of a subtle worn leather note that is short lived but also ebbs and flows for a few minutes. The caramel, sweet wood smoke and popcorn become the dominant notes shortly thereafter and continuing on into the dry down. The root beer is tempered to a very subdued note that weaves in and out for about half an hour. The longer Maine Moon is on the skin, the warmer it becomes as the wood smoke, caramel and popcorn dominate. This fragrance hovers closer to the skin in the dry down but is tenacious. Maine Moon is best experienced outside when the weather is cool. The cool air really brings the notes out and highlights the sweet smoke note during the dry down. To really bring Maine Moon to life, try wearing it on an evening when you can open the window to allow the cool air in, settle down on the couch with the aforementioned concessions, queue up a new or favorite movie, apply Maine Moon and press play!

Transport yourself with this fun novelty fragrance journey.

Maine Moon is not my very favorite SS scent. but it is so complex that it the most visual of the scents I got.Probably inspired by the text above, I immediately pictured a very woodsy drive-in in the early fall.
The couple is young and more intrigued with being together than the movie.  He's eating a box of Cracker Jack and she just finished her soda and put in a Wint-o-Green lifesaver.  He might try to kiss her and she wants to be ready.  They decide to get out of the car, grab an old plaid blanket out of the trunk and walk a little deeper into the woods.  They find a nice spot and spread the blanket down on a pile of leaves that are still slightly damp. They can see a small cottage in the distance with smoke rising from the chimney.  With caramel corn still on his breath and the lifesaver still on hers, he leans over to kiss her...a kiss that lasts longer that either of them thought.  It's when they finally open their eyes and start to focus into the darkening night that they see that they aren't alone...

I wanted to add- I got this in whipped soap and I think it's the perfect thing to get this fragrance in. It's so complex and layered and weird. It's totally Halloween (like the bottom of a trick or treat bag that has had all kinds of candy and mints mingling) and I'll buy it again next year if it is available.

I mostly get buttered popcorn, which is appropriate for a drive in!  Unfortunately I can't do buttery scents, so I'll give this one a pass.

I have to edit to add though, Angela's description is really wonderful!

One of the most unique scents I've tried- really, I haven't seen anything like this. It sounds so weird, a bunch of notes you never imagine could be harmonious- but they are, and they come together in the most true-to-life, atmospheric fashion. I get pretty much everything in the description: earthy, sweet root beer, chocolate covered caramels, leather, popcorn, cool night air and a hint of woodsmoke. For me, the top notes are the most sweet and foodie, as those fade I get the more atmospheric, natural surroundings. Angela's right- wearing it on a cool fall night is your best bet for letting this scent shine- it's uncanny how accurate it is! It's just a really fun scent, hands down.

The opening few moments set the scene exactly as Angela describes. There is a coolness and outdoor setting in which I can clearly detect the scent of damp soil sprinkled with a green coolness that hints of moss damp damp leaves - but just a few seconds of it. A hint of leather and a touch of smoke complete the picture before a swelling of warmth and sweetness wells up. The first note I detected was the chocolate and another sweet note which may have been caramel. This too subsides and the other notes take their turn. I have to admit that I have no idea what "root beer" is or smells like, but I do detect the nutty richness that Angela describes as buttered popcorn, but to me is suggestive of nut browned butter. The smoke note then becomes more prominent to my nose and the sweetness simplifies. every so often I detect the leather in the background and the sweetness hints at wood, though never quite reaches being wood. I love the way Maine Moon orbits between being atmospheric and gourmand but never quite sits in either style. The dry-down is quite long lasting on my skin and smells rich and comforting.

The journey this fragrance takes you on is fascinating and the destination worthwhile.

Very unusual, maybe even bizarre. At first it smells crisp and masculine. I can definitely detect the rootbeer in this. The leather and chocolate come out in the drydown, and unfortunately that is all I get from it. I don’t smell any popcorn or caramel, just birch, leather, and chocolate. This one didn’t work for me which isn’t a huge surprise because leather notes often smell like rubber on my skin. I do think that if it weren’t for the leather weren’t present I would have really enjoyed this scent.

First on, this smells like eating caramel covered popcorn while sitting in a pile of crunchy fall leaves. I don't exactly get root beer, but it does have a sugary soda quality to it (no fizz, but it's a pleasant, sugary, soda-like sweetness). I love the smell of popcorn and caramel popcorn in perfumes. It smells warm, toasty and so comforting. And that's pretty much how this scent stays on me. There's a peppery woodsmoke that comes out in the drydown, but it's mostly caramel popcorn and fall leaves.

I think that this is a really fun scent, and I like it a lot on my hubby too. Very Happy
