SMOKEWOOD APIARY
Smoked Honey, Creamed Honey, Beeswax, Amber, Wooden Frames, Ginger & Vanilla

VEGAN. CONTAINS SYNTHETIC HONEY AND BEESWAX NOTES ONLY.

Smokewood Apiary & Bee Co. produces a variety of honey and beeswax products. They offer pure filtered honey, delicious creamed honey, ginger honey, vanilla bean honey, beeswax tapers and votives, bee pollen and their unique and special artisan smoked honey, which is only available during the Autumn Festival season. This fragrance seeks to capture a variety of honeyed notes from the pure honey to creamed honey to warm beeswax to the special smoked honey. It also contains wood notes to represent the wooden frames of the hive, a variety of smoke notes for not only the smoked honey but also the chimney smoke carried on the wind, ginger from the spicy ginger honey and vanilla from the vanilla bean infused honey. Smokewood Apiary features a variety of golden ambers that ground the blend to prevent it from leaning too cloyingly sweet.

This fragrance is a very smoky, woody honeyed amber blend that has a similar character to our Conjure fragrance due to the sweet, smoky, woody, spice and amber notes used in both fragrances. It is best enjoyed on a cold day where smoky fragrances shine best. The cold air carries the smoke notes around you in a way that is not possible in mild climes. Smokewood Apiary is a unisex fragrance.

Ever since I saw the first Foxcroft town map, I've been hoping for a Smokewood Apiary scent. I ordered a bottle and a glacé right away, and when I tried it I found it to be...nice. I had hoped for a more assertive smoke note but this is coming from someone who likes to wear Campfire perfume from Long Winter Farm. The balance of sweet to smoke leans more to sweet than, say, Smoky Mountain Mallow. The ginger in Smokewood Apiary does bring some heat to the blend, which is unique in a honey scent. The creamy note is apparent as well. The glacé is wonderful for layering because it leaves a sweet, incense-like impression that can serve as background for many scents. It's a beautiful fragrance, just not quite with the smoky kick I expected.

Unlike Jesse, I'm not a big smoke fan, so this was a win for me!  It's very much a "skin scent but better".  The honey is not overly sweet or floral or musky, it's very simple, pleasant and cozy.  Very nice.

I am constantly surprised by the quality of Angela's work and how she manages to take ingredients in different directions to what I expect. Smokewood Apiary is of course nothing like what I expected.

Being a 'honey' themed fragrance, it is sweet, but not too sweet and not a floral honey that often passes as 'honey' in other fragrances. Like other reviewers, I had expected a raw smokiness in the fragrance , but instead it is the smokey richness that gives smoked meats their glorious flavours and depths. Do not think I mean it smells like smoked meats by any means it - of course doesn't, but I do mean it has the analogies of the richness. Think 'smoked' not 'smokey' and you will understand what this is all about. There are amber notes, vanilla notes, and a hint of ginger to lift it and add interest; but above all glorious honeys and the wonderful analogy of beeswax.

It is not a strong scent, but it is a very beautiful one. I have a feeling that Angela is correct about the cooler weather as being ideal. I suspect the smoke I can detect will be more season appropriate then.

Edit: It is now a few days after my original posting and I am now even more impressed with Smoke Wood Apiary. I had initially thought that this was not a strong scent and I am only half right. It is not a dominant, strong scent, but it has an excellent sillage. I love every aspect from its opening right through the dry down. Again Angela has done a wonderful balancing act between the sweet and the non sweet, the gourmand and non gourmand, the masculine and the feminine and the public and the intimate. I appreciate the thought and work involved, but like the true artist Angela is revealing, it appears so effortless and 'complete'. A deserved best seller.

This is the scent that made me fall in love with Solstice Scents. Fresh out of the bottle it is a really rich, deep honey scent. Not at all cloying or sickly sweet. To me it smells like the fairlytale idea of mead (not actual mead thank god). On the drydown it is still very warm and honeyed with a smoked tea base. This is the ultimate comfort scent to me, and whenever I wear it I feel very safe and warm. The scents I get from it change very much with time and weather but each time it is just perfect! I could smell like this forever.

This scent lasts on me for hours and hours without turning into 'old perfume' or powdery. Eventually it sort of merges into a skin scent- I cant tell you what happens after that point because I've always showered or reapplied by then!

I absolutely adore this- this is a perfume that will make you smile all day.

When I first got this as a sample I couldn't smell it at all; not in the vial and not on my skin. I let it rest for several months and now (thankfully) I can smell it.

I don't know what it is about Solstice Scents perfumes but I almost always get a very strong scent memory when I smell them, and this scent is no different.

Mostly what I get from this one in the opening stages is woodsmoke with a sweet powdery background. And for some reason, this smells exactly like the home of my best friend during high school. It's almost exact, I can't even believe it.

My best friend lived out in the country and the smell of woodsmoke was always in the air. In her room there were always candles and incense burning which added powdery sweetness and more smoke to the air. Smokewood Apiary captures the scent of her house so perfectly that if I close my eyes and smell my wrist I feel like I'm there.

Over time the smokiness of the scent fades a bit and more of the sweetness from the honey comes through.

Wearing this just makes me happy, and makes me think of her. I'm actually really tempted to send her a sample and see what she thinks of it.

I've learned that I'm not a honey scent lover. That being said, this one smells like sweet, smoky, sticky honey fresh from the hive! It's not something I'll wear often, but it's lovely and very true to it's description. I'm thoroughly impressed with the entire Foxcroft Autumn Festival collection, and while a few of them aren't scents that I adore, I'm still impressed with the quality and blending of each of them. This one's no exception!

Smokewood Apiary is the best honey scent I’ve encountered over several years of looking for my perfect honey fragrance. It is a true, sticky honey without any flowers or fruit, slightly spiced with ginger. I adore the beeswax note in this, which smells exactly like a beeswax candle and enhances the honey scent without fighting for attention. At first I thought smoked honey would be a weird scent but it does exactly what the description says, cuts down the sweetness to make the blend more wearable. Layering this with a honey scented body lotion is pure heaven.

I've been on a honey kick lately, but I don't love this one. It actually smells very medicinal/bitter at first, reminiscent of honey & cherry flavored cough syrup on my skin for some reason. As it dries down, it's like creamy, honey-vanilla scented, waxy candles, a bright spiciness, and that cough syrup thing. It's not smoky at all on me, but it's not working for me either.

This smells so good, like a honeycomb just pulled out of a hive with the lingering scent of the smoke used to stun the bees. Not getting any Ginger or vanilla, just pure honey and smoke.
