Winter Collection: tonight at 7 pm EST

The Solstice Scents Winter Collection 2020 will debut tonight at 7 pm EST at www.solsticescents.com. An at-a-glance list of what will be available is listed below. Short note descriptions are below that. The full description for our new scent Wardrobe (perfume oil and Eau de Parfum) is below the short note descriptions. This release focuses on returning winter collection scents as well as a long overdue restock of White Fox, Winter Dove, Library, Full Dark, Basilica, Estate Vanilla EDP exclusive and a batch of Hidden Lodge. Hidden Lodge was discontinued some time ago as we can no longer source the specific oud in that blend. We had a little of the original oud left and have chosen to use it this year for this batch of Hidden Lodge, the batch of Thornwood Thicket released for fall and the remaining in reserve for our next batch of Guardian in 2021. We have also slightly reformulated Sugarvale, a very very sweet, simple and fun nutty gourmand. I realized I failed to put Spiked Nog & Nutmeg on the Whipped Soap menu I posted the other day and I accidentally put that Sugarvale would be available in EDP. It is only available in perfume oil, Whipped Soap and Glace.

IMPORTANT SHIPPING INFO: You may have heard that USPS is extremely slammed, possibly short staffed and that many parcels are having delays in arriving. We are expecting to have the majority of orders from tonight within 8 days. Please allow a maximum of 14 days for your order to ship. We met this turnaround time for fall and are expecting a similar processing time for winter orders. We are endeavoring to ship as many parcels as possible, as quickly as possible. Some may arrive before Christmas, but we cannot guarantee it. Choose Priority Mail, where available, if you'd like to decrease the USPS shipping times.

60 ML EDPS - PLEASE NOTE: 60 ml EDPs must ship via the slow service called Parcel Select for USA customers. This class of mail does not come with tracking! You will see "shipping label created" for many days after we physically turn your order over to the post office. It may be a week before you see a random scan and the first scan will likely be in the city you live in as we have seen our local post office and the main sort facility for the state are not scanning these parcels. USPS tracking has been spotty. Please have patience. When you receive a shipping notice, your order is actually going out that day or the next day, depending on what time you receive it. We do not print shipping labels and sit on parcels ever. So if tracking does not update for a few days, this is a USPS issue and unfortunately we cannot do anything other than have patience with them.

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND OR GUARANTEE FIRST CLASS INTERNATIONAL MAIL. Please use DHL as your shipping option, where available. Some countries do not offer DHL and some areas have very high (like $40 USD) rural delivery fees. We are continuing to offer first class international shipping for those who cannot choose DHL but allow up to 3 months for your USPS first class international parcel to be delivered. We cannot guarantee you receive it. Unfortunately this class of mail is relegated to "buyer beware" as it has been extremely unreliable for 2020 and started going downhill at the start of 2019, after we enjoyed almost a decade of reliable service from this class of mail. Note that USPS first class international does not come with tracking and stops scanning after it leaves the USA.

SHOP CLOSURE: We will be closing for a period of time in 2021. Please plan your purchases accordingly. We will announce the dates as we have them but it is estimated we will close about mid-January through the end of February. This means know February/Valentine's release, though we do plan to offer Estate Cacao and some of the other popular February scents sometime after we reopen. When we reopen it will likely be with the inventory we have on hand and we will move to offer restocks and other items in the subsequent weeks.

WARDROBE *NEW*
Creamy woods blend with cashmere, fur, velvet and a touch of dry woody spice

Wardrobe is a very creamy and smooth sandalwood-forward blend. It also contains warm notes of cedar, cypress and hinoki woods paired with fantasy fabric accords of cashmere, fur and velvet. A hint of dry woody-spice adds further warmth. This is a very cozy and smooth woods blend, not to be missed by lovers of sandalwood or blonde woods. The cashmere, fur and velvet offer the impression of clean winter-wardrobe staples but do not smell like fresh laundry or laundry detergent. The woods blend is the main player with the fabric softening the edges just behind and coming out a bit stronger on the dry down. There are many natural and synthetic components in this formula, including traces of rosewood and rose geranium that cannot be readily detected but that add a lot toward the body of this scent and a delicate and very mild lemony dimension. The blend of woods is multi-faceted, sometimes smelling dry, warm, slightly sweet or resinous, sun-baked or a little dusty. The fur inside of the wardrobe is faux. There are no animal ingredients in this perfume, only synthetic interpretations. Contains many rare and precious natural materials as well as sustainably harvested sandalwood oil.

A NOTE ON OUR EXTRAITS: There has been some confusion about our extraits that I have been trying to clear up. Not all of our extraits are oil based. We have many perfumes in our catalog that are organic cane sugar alcohol based. The carrier used is indicated on the notes list for our Master Scent Reference and the list on the sample 5 and 10 packs. Sea of Gray, Runestone, Casting Shadows, Scrying Smoke, Guardian and many more are organic cane sugar alcohol based. We recommend never smelling/judging perfumes from the vial as this is not only a poor way to evaluate a perfume but, in the case of the alcohol based scents, they may "burn" your nose or smell strongly of alcohol. The alcohol evaporates shortly after application. Applying perfume is the best way to experience a scent. The top notes burn off, the notes evolve and morph and meld with your person skin chemistry and the dry down focuses on the base notes. Our straight gourmand perfumes tend to be more linear and also very sweet. The other fragrance categories tend to be more complex overall and morph over time. This is often why when you smell a perfume weeks or a month later, you think it has changed somehow dramatically but really, you overwhelmed your nose at the beginning by smelling too many things at one time. Our perfumes typically only need a max of 48 hours to rest from temperature fluctuations in transit. Perfumes are volatile and may be affected by the heat of summer and cold of winter, less so at more stable temps throughout the year.

ABOUT EDP SAMPLES AND GENERAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OIL BASED PERFUMES AND ALCOHOL BASED EXTRAITS/EDPS: In addition to offering the 5 and 10 sample extrait packs, we offer 2.5 ml Eau de Parfum sample sprays. If you tend to prefer mainstream/commercial/designer perfumery, you will likely prefer this format. EDPs are excellent for spraying on clothing, misting in hair or layering with our oil based perfume extraits in order to maximize scent strength, throw and longevity. One of the most common questions I receive is asking about the difference between our oil extraits versus EDPs. Our alcohol based extraits and EDPs are the *exact same thing*. This means Sea of Gray in the 1 ml, 2.5ml, 5 ml and 60 ml are all the exact same "juice". The alcohol based scents ride at the lower end of extrait concentration and at the highest end of EDP concentration so they could be considered either an extrait or an EDP. The largest difference between an oil and an alcohol based perfume as that notes shine more true and clearer in the alcohol format as it is a more volatile carrier. This may produce additional scent throw as well. Oil tends to tamp down and dampen top notes and the oil based perfumes tend to be a more intimate experience and wear closer to the skin on the dry down. For our alcohol based extraits, apply a little more than you typically would for an oil and you may want to apply a second dose layered over the top. Alcohol is more drying to the skin so you can increase longevity by applying over unscented moisturizer or layering with our oil extraits or Glaces (where available) I find that all of our perfumes last longer when applying to the posterior/exterior of arm rather than the interior of wrists where our body heat burns them up faster. Please note that not all of our extraits are offered in EDP format and some of our EDPs are exclusive to that formula and not available as extraits.
