Gulf Breeze vs. Tenebrous Mist vs. Haus of Gloi's Selkie

Has anybody tried 2 or all 3 of these scents? I need a comparison please. I've only tried Selkie, which I like, so I'm intrigued by these Solstice Scents descriptions. I'd really like to find my ultimate marine/beachy fragrance. Thanks in advance!

For reference, Selkie is described as: The break of waves, gurgling sea foam, kelp, rain tinged air, sand smoothed driftwood and wild sage.

I've tried all of them, like them all.... but Tenebrous Mist is my favorite. Gulf Breeze is more like Selkie than Tenebrous is. Both Selkie and GB are more of of "typical" ocean scent than Tenebrous. Although Tenebrous has a lot of the same sea/water/ocean notes, it also has some musky/amber notes along with a bit of smoke. It's one of my all-time favorite scents from Solstice Scents.

They do sell samples that you can purchase and you also get a freebee sample with you order... so that might be the way to go to test them both to see if you like them.

I have tried Selkie and Tenebrous Mist, and I will second Rob's observations: while I like Selkie, it is a more classic ocean scent. Pleasant, but not super exciting, at least to me. TM is really unique, it manages to be salty and smokey and very atmospheric and a bit unsettled. A lot of ocean scents are more of an ocean impression.... but TM combines the different elements into something that smells quite authentic. It is really worth a try if you like ocean scents!

Tenebrous Mist is the most unique "aquatic" fragrance I have encountered if this helps at all with your decision. I often find aquatic scents too simplistic and linear, but TM is wonderfully complex.

I had not tried Tenebrous Mist before this year so I was a virgin to it. I got my samples today though, and I am so wowed by Tenebrous Mist, I can't imagine trying any other aquatic after this one. I've tried others before, but as mentioned above, they tend to be a bit more linear. Tenebrous Mist is almost beyond description. Every time I sniff it, I get another layer, or it moves into another dimmension. I am so in love.

I totally agree, Harvest! It's like Solstice Scholar said about Tenebrous being much more complex than most other ocean scents.

I adore that scent!

I went out with some friends on Monday night and brought my sample pack of the summer scents with me. A few scent virgins cold sniffed Tenebrous and went Ewwww. But, I told them they couldn't leave without trying it on. Imagine THEIR surprise when they kept coming back to that one on their arms and asking me which one it was because they loved it. I kept having to tell them, "You know the one you went Ewww with? Yeah, that's it." The ones who aren't scent virgins (one buys much of her perfume from overseas) fell hard for Tenebrous. They all were amazed at its depth and character, and I enjoyed telling them that not only could they get it from a company here in the US, but that it was also super affordable.

Several of them requested "official" scent sniffing nights at my house from here on out whenever I get samples LOL. Actually, it was less of a request and more of a demand lol.

I will admit to being a perfume pusher. It sure beats other things out there (especially with such lovelies as these). *Grin
