Let's talk about your favorite wines!

My favorite company to order wine from is Michigan-based Round Barn Winery. I placed an order a couple weeks ago for a couple of my favorite wines, and also a couple to give as gifts for Christmas. I really like the Gewurztraminer, which is a delicious, light white wine. Also, their Red Demi Sec is delicious when served slightly chilled. For Christmas gifts, I ordered the Mulled Apple Wine Set, which is a bottle of their Apple wine with a small muslin bag of mulling spices; you just pour the wine and spice bag (which has a cork attached to it, so it will float in the wine) in a crock pot, and let it simmer; soooo perfect for the winter months. Lastly, I ordered Black Currant Dessert Wine, which I *was* going to give as a Christmas gift, but it sounds so good, I may just keep it for myself. pirat Also, you can never go wrong with a company who will deliver alcohol to your front door. Laughing

So, what are your favorites? Any great local wines in your area? Let's chat about the good stuff!

Seconding the love for Michigan wines! My in-laws live on the Grand Traverse Peninsula so we when we visit I always try to pick up several bottles at Good Harbor, Chateau de Leelanau, or Mawby.

What a great thread. I've only recently been getting into wines so I can't really comment with any kind of well rounded opinion. I do prefer cabernet to other wines and like when they are smooth, not too dry and not too tart. Wines that don't give me a headache are a great plus too!

We just recently planted muscadine grapes and are hopeful to make our first batch of wine sometime next year with the harvest!

I like Optima Prima cabernet. It is dirt cheap at $3.99/bottle but it is better to me than wines that are significantly more expensive. I recently tried Tisdale's Pinot Noir and really enjoyed that one as well. I also love Rex Goliath. I'm really interested in the Michigan wines mentioned! Mulled Apple and Black Currant dessert wines sound delicious!

I have been trying different regions and wines and so far my favorite is a Bodega Norton Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2004. Its velvety smooth, full bodied and is reminiscent of chocolate and mint with a long spicy finish. So good! I may just need to go open a bottle, now that I'm thinking about it!

Love keeping several bottles of Tisdale's on hand. Another good, inexpensive one is Marcus James Malbec. We're always on the hunt for cheap wines that are still tasty and won't cause headaches. Smile
