Description: A sweet and smoky scent reminiscent of the smell of chimney smoke in the cold winter air and the comforting aroma of the fireside. There are layers to the smoke accord created in this scent. It is rich and warm and smells of campfire smoke that clings to your clothes and burning woods with a hint of soot, char, ashes and glowing embers all at once. The sweet marshmallow adds a creaminess that rounds out the strong smoky profile. Lapsang Souchong C02 (smoked tea), precious fossilized amber resin, sweet guaiacwood, golden resinous labdanum, wood smoke, fluffy marshmallows and a touch of nutmeg essential oil combine to provide an extremely atmospheric and delectable experience.

Initial application of this scent is very smoky, akin to burning wood and campfire smoke with a little sweetness underneath and a whiff of nutmeg essential oil. After a few minutes the smoke softens and the moderate sillage will gently waft around you through the length of its wear, smelling like a distant fire on the wind. The marshmallow does become stronger, sweeter and more apparent the longer this wears on the skin. Smoky Mountain Mallow will take you on an amazing scent journey!

SS Smokey Mountain Mallow is gorgeous. The smokey Lapsang Souchong is beautiful. Any of you other tea drinkers who love Lapsang Souchong tea will be able to tell from the perfume that it is the real thing and not a fragrance oil. The marshmallow is perfect with it. I love the B&BW candle, Fireside Marshmallow and I have wanted a perfume like it since they brought it out in 2011. Well, Smokey Mountain Mallow is pretty much that scent, but a little more complex and sophisticated. I also love the B&BW Deck the Halls and this has some of it mixed in with the Fireside Marshmallow. Smokey Mountain Mallow is just awesome and I am anxious to see how it layers with SS Master Bedroom. It is the smokey scent that I have been wanting forever. Thank you, Angela!

I love Smokey Mountain Mallow! I ordered the roller ball at first release, and after it arrived I immediately went back and ordered the glace. I think the glace is going to be the best way to experience this scent -- I want to be able to spritz it on my sweaters and scarves, to let it get into my clothes the way woodsmoke does.

The scent really morphs: it starts out *very* smoky, with strong lapsang notes. Then it sort of burns down, and the sugars come out, as though they're caramelizing. It reminds me of being around a campfire as a kid, making smores -- that awesome smell when the marshmallows get burned, plus the woodsmoke and embers.

But underneath there are also notes that are more incensey/sexy. This scent is both completely earthy and totally fascinating.

I live in Vermont, where if you smell like a campfire, people will assume you have *actually been standing next to a campfire* and if you say, 'oh actually that's my perfume,' they'll probably think you're a bit of a fruit loop. (People take their woodsiness pretty seriously around here.) But I don't care! This is definitely a new favorite.

I plan to layer this with Kitchen, and Harvest Moon. Hmm, and maybe Cenobite...

Oh my goodness!

I've been wearing Smoky Mountain Mallow since it arrived three days ago and I have become completely obsessed with this scent!

I totally agree with what both Gwen and portalkat said. Their descriptions are spot on! The scent does start out extremely smoky from the Lapsang Souchong (which I have grown to LOVE) along with a bit of spiciness from the nutmeg and sweetness from the marshmallow.

The journey this scent takes is fantastic! After a bit, I started to get this wonderful warmth from the amber and labdanum which adds such richness to this blend. SMM has incredible staying power... I can still smell it on myself 8-10 hours later, when it's morphed into a lovely warm, resiny and almost incensy scent with just a hint of sweetness and smoke. I'm not sure what the incense note I get in the drydown is.. whether it's the amber and labdanum or not... but just a HINT of church incense made from frankincense and myrrh. It's glorious!

I was so worried that the smoke notes in this blend would give me that famous BBQ meat smoke note, because I've been searching for a smoky blend for quite some time and all of them have that nasty fake liquid smoke note that makes me toss it immediately. But, I should have realized this blend was in Angela's hands... and she does such wonders with scent notes... there's no BBQ ribs around.. just a wonderful woodsmoke/tea.

I seriously hope that Angela continues making this scent... I'm going to try a bit of my glace with some Ghost salts so I can enjoy it in the bath!

This scent is so clever: a campfire with marshmallows! I let my 9 year old daughter sniff and she thought it smelled like Halloween (i.e. burning leaves). The only downside is like real smoke, it's making my sore throat a little scratchy. It is amazingly realistic, though! Angela's descriptions are the best; they let you know EXACTLY what to expect and she nailed this one.

I *love* this scent so much. It's earthy, dark, warmly resinous, smoky marshmallow <3 it really does make me think of burning marshmallows to a crisp over a campfire.
Sometimes smoky scents can smell dirty or harsh to me, but I find this one very wearable and comforting.
I love the warm, sultry feel that it has from the resinous amber and labdanum, and the little bit of spiciness & depth from the nutmeg. It's just perfect. The marshmallow adds a sweetness that really rounds out the scent and sticks around. I've been wearing this for five hours now and it's still strong and has gotten a bit sweeter over time. It gets better & better the longer that I have it on.

This is definitely a new favorite for me (I am close to saying that it is going to be my #1 favorite from Solstice Scents, but I think I still love Manor more.. it's close, lol). I think that Smoky Mountain Mallow is so well put together. I'm glad that I just went with a full size bottle of this one, and I think I'll have to get it in some other products as well.

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon here! Smoky Mountain Mallow is a seriously gorgeous scent! I reviewed it in my blog here, in case you guys are interested

I have tried this three times and each time I have been impressed for different reasons.

The first wearing was in the morning (10.30 am) in sunny weather 18 degrees C with a light application This was the least interesting application, but had a good balance between the smoke elements and the sweetness of the other elements. I don't really think that this is a daytime fragrance, but I do think that many people will like the fragrance when worn this way. The smoke is subtle and the sweetness of the mallow accord is apparent.
 
Second application - 5.00 pm wet weather temperature 15 degrees C. Stronger application. The smoke element is much stronger here and reminds me of cade. Sweetness is a background only, but I can now pick out an amber note and perhaps a tea note which is an excellent foil to the smoke and adds complexity. Am liking this fragrance much more at this application level, but I'm not sure whether it is suited to the high levels of humidity.
 
Third application - 10.00 pm cool clear night 12 degrees C. Very thick application. The smoke notes sing to me but initially overwhelm almost everything else. Cannot stop smelling at this stage as I am so curious as to how long it will last at this level of intensity. This is what I want a smoke fragrance to be all about - smoke. So well done I would like to applaud you. As it dried down the other notes come into play. This time I can get a subtlety of spice (nutmeg is listed but it is somewhat more reminiscent of mace perhaps because of the amber). You can take pride in this fragrance!!!! We will probably get through this bottle very quickly, so keep one aside for me if it is discontinued!

This is basically just woodsmoke and marshmallows. It is very realistic. I'm actually really stupid. I'm not the biggest fan of marshmallow scents and yet I still ordered this as a sample. I didn't know what I was expecting from a perfume with a note I KNOW I don't like. On me the marshmallow note is quite prominent at first but the woodsmoke comes in and they just blend together. People who like marshmallow scents would probably like it better than me.The sillage is okay and it did stay on me for a pretty reasonable amount of time.

This is hands-down one of my new favorite scents by SS. It has all the smokiness of a bonfire, with a slightly sweet after glow to round it out.

I got SMM as my free sample on my very first purchase, more as a filler (I was so excited about my first purchase that I didn't even know SS includes a free sample with every order - and I completely missed out on my extra 'new customer' freebie! ) and ohh my goodness, I'm so glad I did. SMM ended up being the surprise hands-down winner of my order! On cold sniff I was instantly intrigued, and on my skin... mmmmmyes. I love this scent and it loves me right back. It mellows over time to a deliciously creamy sweetness, without being cloying or overtly sugary, and clings to my skin for hours - I tried a light application at night, and I could still smell a whisper on my skin even after sleep.

I was disappointed that it was sold out in the glace - I want this in my hair, under my clothes - but it was included in the big restock a few days ago, hurrah!!  This is the perfect wild smoky sweet scent that I've been wanting all my life.. I'll definitely be getting the glace (and maybe the full-size perfume, too) when payday comes around!!

I've had the glace in my greedy paws for a couple days now, and feel it deserves a review of its own.

Smoky Mountain Mallow behaves quite differently for me as a glace, than it did as a perfume oil. as perfume, the smoke starts out intense but quickly (~15min) mellows into more of a complementary note, and the marshmallow sweetness becomes the more detectable note over time. as a glace, that intense smokiness sticks around for quite a while and remains the primary note, followed by nutmeg? and then, very close to my skin, the barest vanilla sweetness. I think I can smell the carrier oils? this is my first glace, so I'm not quite sure.

I love how the glace feels on my skin - soft, silky, and not greasy at all (I hope that a restock of the ghost glace is in the near future!) - but I do prefer this scent as a perfume oil. unfortunately it just doesn't love me quite so much in glace form.

In the sample vial this smelled like campfire smoke with marshmellows: two quite distinct scents from one another. I couldn’t smell any of the other notes listed- it just smelled like I was downwind from a campfire.

On the skin these two scents mix together more smoothly for a more rounded scent. The harsh smoke scent I wasn’t keen on at first slowly faded away for a more smooth, spicy scent. After about 20 minutes the other notes come forward to morph this scent into a softer, more intriguing mix of amber resin and marshmellow. At no point in the course of this scent did the mallow become too sweet or foody for me. This scent is difficult to describe because it is very unique-I’ve never smelled anything like it. You definitely wouldn’t find anything like it in a department store.

I think this is interesting because it doesn’t fall into any of the typical categories of gourmand, floral, or earthy/dark scents. It starts off too harsh but mellows out into something I enjoy- I wouldn’t buy a full-sized bottle, but it might really work on some people. At the least, it’s intriguing- I’d immediately be interested in someone whom I smelled Smokey Mountain Mallow on.

Dude. I have liked everything I've got from SS, and this was my first strike. Due to the reviews, I bought this in a full size perfume and it's one of the more $ ones. I thought it might be similar to marshmallow fireside.
When I first put it on it was pure campfire and I kept thinking that this is the scent I am trying to get off me after I go camping. Later it turned into weenie roast status and I'm a vegetarian, so that grossed me out.
I put it up on swaps but no one has responded. I tried little tiny dots on my wrist again yesterday and it was a little better in a lighter application. Still not for me.

This scent starts out really harsh and unpleasant - but trust me, don't wash it off right away. After only a couple minutes it fades to a really pretty and pleasant scent, with just a hint of smokiness. It smells just like marshmallows roasted on a campfire, and despite what the opening of the scent tries to tell you, it is actually quite wearable. I really do like this scent once the beginning harshness has faded. I asked my mom to smell it and she said it smelled "pretty" and "like a beach bonfire". This is a really great scent if you give it a chance and give it time for the harshness to fade a bit.

It opened up with strong smokey scent. Like smack in your face smokey. After a while the mallow and nutmeg showed up and it got sweeter, with the nutmeg wafting in and out. The labdanum and amber keep the powdery sense of it. I don't usually dig powdery smell, but this is good as I suppose the mallow keeps it from being too powdery. I really have to commend Angela for her amazing skill of blending scents.
Silage was great and longevity was from 8pm until I had to take a shower at 7am the next morning. And it's clinging on my clothes like no tomorrow.

So this scent I was really excited about when I first ordered it and when it arrived I couldn't wear it because the smoke was too overwhelming for me and gave me a headache. I mentioned this with Kitchen as well, but I've found the case for me with all the SS perfumes I've ordered is that I have to have a waiting period for the oils to really be able to smell what they are intended to smell like. I digress, SMM was too acrid for me when I first got it, so when I tried it out again a year later I was over the moon because the smoke had dulled down to a perfect level and now I'm obsessed with the scent and can't wait to order a full size bottle. Now the smokiness combines perfectly with the sweetness of the marshmallow vanilla, which is also amazing because it's not that awful plastic/fake vanilla you find in a lot of perfumes, and the drydown lingers in a beautiful smoky sweet way. So much love for this perfume, it's just so perfect on a cold winter night. Angela, your perfumes are just so amazing!

Now I LOVE smokey scents. I honestly want to straight up smell like fresh woodsmoke all day everyday. I was so excited to try this and for some reason expected the 'Mallow' to be the PLANT mallow and somehow herby. My reading comprehension is clearly awful when I'm excited.

This smell is just lovely on my husband, smokey and marshmallowy, like he's great big toasted marshmallow fresh off the stick. Exactly like I hoped it would smell on me.

Unfortunately we have OPPOSITE skin chemistry and on me this smells vile. Synthetic smoke and overly sweet and then after 10 mins it turns sour and hideous and I had to wash it off.

All was not lost thankfully, as it smells like it should if I apply it to my clothing. It also layers very well with Witch's Cottage. Phew!

I won't be buying this in full size but it is fun to layer. Hopefully your skin will be more receptive than mine, and heck if you love it just whack it on your clothing.

Oh man, I love this scent in the weirdest way! When I first tried it a year and a half ago I was mostly indifferent to it. It's extremely smoky, and at first that was all I got out of it. As I've tried it on occasion, I've liked it more and more each time. The marshmallow comes out after a few minutes, and it's just smoke and campfire and a bit of creamy sweetness. Not at all what I was wanting, (marshmallow fireside from bath and body works was more what I had in mind!) but gorgeous in it's own way, and fantastic on my husband!

Initially this is just really, really strong woodsmoke. I enjoyed it but a few of the people I asked while I was trying it out thought it was pretty offensive. As it dries the marshmallow comes out more and more and eventually I’m left with a sweet bonfire sort of scent. I love the final result but for whatever reason this scent takes over an hour to fully settle on my skin, during which I smell like “liquid smoke” or “almost like smoked salmon” according to some of the people I asked. Overall I enjoy this scent but find it hard to wear. I might wear it at home but probably not out of the house unless I’ve got time to let it develop first. It is possible that my skin amps smokey scents and that’s why I had such a bad time with it.

EDP review: i was expecting a smothering smoky scent, but got a beautiful lapsang tea leaf softened with something airy and sweet. This would be an ideal fragrance for rainy late spring and summer days.
