SYCAMORE SUGARWORKS
Caramelized Pear Tarts, Banana Apple Muffins, Spice Cakes With Rum Glaze, Cream Puffs & Maple Walnut Pastries

Offered in Perfume, Whipped Soap and Glace as part of the Foxcroft Collection

Sycamore Sugarworks is the local bakery in the town of Foxcroft. It features an array of sweet treats, coffee, chai and friendly small town chatter. A tinkling bell on the door signals your ingress. The bakery is warm as goodies are still making their way out of the oven. Shrugging off your coat, you are immediately aware of the myriad of sugary scents swirling around you: fruit danish, butter cream icing, fresh maple candies, spice breads, biscotti and many more goodies are offered on trays and stands of varying size.

Sycamore Sugarworks fragrance contains a melange of varying desserts and their components. Notes of white sugar, pear, maple, brown sugar, caramel, banana, vanilla, pecan, clove, rum, apple and pastry collide to create an incredibly sweet decadent dessert fragrance. On cold sniff, pear, caramel, banana and a touch of rum glazed spice cakes are in the foreground hovering above a base of the pure sugar, maple, caramel, brown sugar, pastry and vanilla cream puffs. After a few minutes on the skin, the fruits soften as they are smothered in the warm brown notes of caramel and maple. Sycamore Sugarworks does morph, however, its profile is consistently sweet throughout, especially after the pear and banana top notes disappear. This blend has only a minimal amount of spice that is primarily detected in the first few minutes of wear. The dry down is warm, sugary, slightly buttery with a hint of vanilla cream puffs and a faint trace of spice.

If you like Witche's Cottage, you will love Sycamore Sugarworks!!! To me it has that same sugary sweetness. Don't get me wrong, it is not overly sweet. I get a perfect blend of sugar, vanilla, spices and maybe even a bit of caramel. Very wearable and would be perfect for anyone that loves vanilla scents.

Hmmm, for me, it was so sugary sweet, especially in the first hour. However, it started to dry down to a sweet, vanilla, creamy, feminine scent with a hint of musk. I really enjoyed it to be honest, and will probably try to stock up on everything from this scent. I am not much of a foodie person, but this may be one of my favorites. I just felt so happy wearing it. But I wouldn't necessarily compare it to Witch's Cottage. Witch's Cottage is much more herbal and spicy, with a little bit of sweet; Sycamore Sugerworks is just all sweet. But everyone's skin and perception is different.

I think I tested too many of the uber rich foodies in a row and feel like I just came out of that room in Willie Wonka's factory with the chocolate waterfall and whipped cream in the toadstools.  Each one seems more decadent than the next.  This and Sugarvale seem to the be richest and sweetest to me. (Blackburn Parlor has a subdued vanilla sweetness; Maplewood Inn's richness is cut a bit by its smokiness.) It also has that brown sugar/"bakery goods" quality from Blueberry Muffin Batter.

This opens with a bit of the caramelized pear tarts and apple muffins, but at it's core it's spice cake with rum glaze. It's a gorgeous fall-type foodie scent, similar to Kitchen but different enough to justify a full bottle. It's tangy from the pears, sweet from the brown sugar, syrupy-but-not-cloying, and comforting.

The initial scent on the skin is phenomenal. It smells like pears, pastry, maple, and banana bread with some spice. On me the dry down is disappointing. The gorgeous complexity disappears and I’m left with a sweet vanilla/caramel gourmand scent that is pleasant enough, but not nearly as appealing. I agree with other reviewers who have said that gourmand lovers will enjoy this, though I think SS has several better options in terms of foody fragrances.

This is actually not as sweet and spicy as I was expecting. It starts off with a very fresh, crisp, breezy pear (like being in a pear orchard and smelling icy fall air and ripe pears) and a creamy banana that isn't going to sickly banana candy on me (yay!). The creamy banana + freshness actually smells really close to peeling an actual banana. I get only a tiny hint of cider spice and a warm, toasty, maple & nutty scent underneath the fruits. After about an hour, it settles into more of a baked goods smell, but it's a really good one. It smells just like a lightly spiced, fresh-from-the-oven loaf of banana bread. I love how creamy and soft this smells.
