| What is a forum without a "post a picture of your pet" thread? So, what have you? We have four rescue dogs, all "mutts". Blix, Krueger, Daphne and Courtney. Blix is a boy and the other 3 are girls. We are BIG dog people and we love our family and I can assure you that are pups are spoiled rotten! We also have 3 hens. I don't have a good picture of our new Black Star hens right now. We used to have 3 Buff Orpingtons but 2 turned out to be roosters so we had to take them back to the farm. They are living it up there though - free range and well taken care of. Our hens are Bessie (the Buff) and Foxcroft and Brownie (the Black Stars). Pictured below are Bessie, Buffy and Bandit (named before we knew the last 2 were roosters, though we were always suspicious of Bandit). It was taken on our last day with them before we took them back to the farm. I'll upload our Black Stars when I have better pics. From top to bottom: Blix, Daphne, Krugie (with the bandana) and Courtney (our newest addition with the white toe) We also have snakes (Nogie, Rubix, De Vaca and Dandridge), a tarantula (Mandragora) and an outdoor turtle named Medium. We have a few additional pics on the About Us page of our website. We really need to update it with our dogs and chicken coop, etc! What kind of pets do you guys have? | |

| Wow, your pets are awesome! Thanks so much for sharing. Those chix/hens/rooster are really very pretty. Glad to hear about the rescue part especially, since that always hits home with me! As you can see with my "avatar" Daisy is standing there in all her glory! If you have a few secs, read my personal story! My St. Bernard died on Palm Sunday, in April this year. I think I cried every day for 2 months and decided this house was much too lonely without a dog! So, I went on Petfinder, and discovered Great Pyreness Rescue nationwide. Then, I went through pix's of scores of Pyrs and Mixed Pyrs in my region of the Mid-West. I'm from Michigan and traveled 6 hours to Indiana to be introduced to four Pyrs. And "Daisy" picked me, so to speak! She was the most docile, loving creature I ever met! Daisy also looked pathetic, never groomed in her life, her coat of fur touched the ground and she looked like a giant sheep-dog - just like the dog in the 1960's movie, Please Don't Eat the Daisies! She was a "herd" watcher or guard dog on a Petting Farm that folded after 3 years, and turned into Pyr Rescue so she was pretty much an outside dog. She killed 7 coyotes on that Farm, but you would never know that by her calm, loving manner. Inherent to her breed, she was doing what came natural, and that was protector. Anyways, as of now, 3 months later, she and I had one "up and down" tumble of an adjustment period. She had to change from a "country chick" to a "city chick." I had to re-landscape my backyard and remove all mulch from all the areas! She rolled in the mulch and would appear at my back door as a giant Q-Tip with debris! Then, brush, brush, brush, clean, clean, clean! Lordy! But all the "bugs" are worked out, and Life is Good, as my T-shirts say! Daisy is my daily inspiration. She makes you laugh, smile, roll your eyes, and she constantly gives you her paw for more one-on-one attention! She'll protect you to her dying day.......and as I look upon her with such pride, my heart brims over with undying LOVE. | |

| Angela, your pups are beautiful! OMG! It's so nice seeing Courtney in a home setting! I was so excited when you had mentioned that you were adopting another.
Wow.. what a variety of pets you have! My next post will introduce you to our little family of felines... At present, TomTom is my profile picture.
What a great thread... it seems like many of us are big time animal lovers!

| <<< CAUTION! Wall of text to follow! >>> I've always been a lover of all animals, having grown up with dogs, cats, fish, guinea pigs & hamsters. I lived in apartments for many years which never usually allow animals. In the early 90's I moved into a place that allowed cats! So.. off to the shelter I went, searching for a furry companion. Eventually, it became two female felines, Bernadette (Bernie) and Margaret (Maggie). They lived with me until January of 2007 when Bernie passed away from renal disease, leaving Maggie alone. Being that she was up in age, Jay and I decided that Maggie would be the ruler of the house for the rest of her days. In August of that year, one of my co-workers came back from a job with a teenie little kitten in his hand... she was full of fleas, dirty as heck and skinny. Immediately I fell in love and called Jay. We decided we would try to see how she would get along with Maggie. We named her Bo Peep after one of my favorite childhood movies... Laurel & Hardy's March of the Wooden Soldiers. I know I'm really dating myself here, but I always wanted animals named after some of the characters and Bo Peep was one of them. So, off to the vet she went, we fed the heck out of her and she started to develop into a beautiful little girl. BoBo proved to be a bit more than Maggie could handle, so in October of that year, we went back to the shelter and adopted Barnaby (another character name). Maggie, BoBo and Barnaby lived happily together until the spring of the following year when Bo started experiencing some neurological problems and began having seizures. After many vet visits, we finally found a new lady who had a plan to find out exactly what was wrong with the little babe. Unfortunately, BoBo had a terrible seizure the day before she was going to have a test which would prove that she had been born with a liver shunt and she suffered severe brain damage. One of the worst days in my life was letting that little one go to the rainbow bridge. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes today. A few weeks later, Jay suggested that we go back to the shelter just to visit and bring food, litter and toys to the puppies and kitties in the hopes that we would both feel a little better at the loss of our little one.. It was a tough visit. As we were about to leave, I happened to turn around and look in a window to where they housed bunnies that were up for adoption. A little ginger and white kitty was in a cage with a few of her siblings. She looked right into my eyes as if to say "I'm here to help you heal". We asked to see her, played with her for a little while and decided the best way to honor Bobo was to save another kitty. What to name her? It didn't seem right after BoBo to continue on with my plan... plus the fact that she looked a lot like BoBo. So, I thought and thought and always loved the name Willow.. it was always such a beautiful word to me. Willow came home to help our hearts heal. Sadly, two weeks later, Maggie became very ill and she also became a victim to renal failure. She joined Bernie at the bridge and lived to be 17-1/2. So, here we have Barnaby and Willow... happy kitties. Jay and I continued to visit the shelter every month or so, filling the Jeep up with food, litter and toys and visiting all of the animals. A few months later, we saw another kitty, who we had seen before. He was a typical tom cat, but had grown and was past the "cute kitty stage" to where most people would want him. Jay became very attached to him... so.... needless to say, WE did! We named him TomTom (I always wanted a silver tabby named TomTom as part of the naming plan). He wasn't silver, but we loved the name and decided to go for it anyway. That was three years ago. Willow, Barnaby and TomTom are now all grown up and honestly, they're our kids. They run the place, demand attention and constantly wrestle each other to see who will be the alpha cat. We love them dearly and still to this day, we visit Fallen Timer (the shelter), just to give back a little of what we've received... a family! Barnaby is black and white, Willow is the ginger, and TomTom is the tabby: -Rob | |

| Love seeing everyone's pet's! Rob, your cats are too adorable and you take great photos of them! I had 2 cats, orange marmies for 18years and they died of cancer. I moved to Iowa and my husband was allergic to cats so I switched to dogs. Angela and Mindy-love your dogs! Animals are the best. My husband and I adopted Romeo, the all copper Pom from a shelter. He is 4 yrs old and quite a energetic and naughty boy (he loves to snack on poop-his own-yuk).He was laying outside the other day and had a little pile of dried poop pieces and was snacking on them-oh, my...Juliet is the little white with copper spots long haired chihuahua. She was a rescue from a puppy mill where she had been for 15mon. She did not know how to walk up stairs, didn't know what to do with grass, and in general did not know how to be a dog. We spoiled her rotten with love and she turned out to be the sweetest dog ever. She is my little mini me and follows me everywhere. I haven't figured out how to download a bigger picture so I cahnged my avatar so everyone could see them. | |

When you go to post, there are a bunch of options above the box (Bold, Italic, Center, Bullet Lists etc). Do you see the hyperlink button toward the right? If you see that, go two squares to the left. There is a picture with a little disk in front of it icon. Click that. Then you can click "browse" to find an image on your computer. You can resize the image too. All the images in the SS Scent Reference are the smallest size at 320 pix to give you an idea. The Warlock Salts pic in the bath salts thread in the SS B&B Reviews section is 640 pix. Once you have you image, click "host it". Highlight the 2nd link, copy and then paste it into the post. That's how I do mine but if you guys have better tips, help deer out.

| Wow...there are some moving stories in this thread guys. Mindy, you really went to great lengths to bring Daisy into your life and it seems like she was really meant to be. She is just beautiful. I am so sorry for the loss of your other companion though. I've known that heartache and it is never ever easy.
Rob, you and Jay have really been on a roller-coaster with your kids. I am so sorry for all of the tough times you guys have had to go through but I was very happy to read about how things are going at present and that the home is healthy and happy. I also admire you two for giving back to the shelter and also for adopting animals in need. You know that is an issue very close to my heart.
Debi - Romeo & Juliet are so precious!! I know dogs can sometimes have the eating poo problem when they are younger and it sometimes links to something missing from their diets/ a nutritional deficiency. Good on you for adopting rescue animals too.
I saw someone driving with a bumper sticker that was a pink paw print and it said "Rescue Mom" in the paw print. I want this sticker! But my favorite one so far is the black paw print that says "Who rescued who?" That is so true. My animals are really my family and whenever I'm down, being with them really makes a world of difference. Suddenly, things aren't so bad anymore.

| AngloAngel, Lil'Bear and Sophie are both super precious. Sophie looks like the sweetest dog. How ANYONE can seriously leave a dog anywhere and just throw it away like a piece of garbage is beyond me. It disgusts me to no end and I tremble with a mixture of sickness and rage, not to mention thinking a whole lot of expletives. And the most heartbreaking part is that this isn't some isolated incident but rather tons and tons of people are capable of pulling this kind of crap or some other kind of abuse/neglect/etc. Whenever I look at our dogs I constantly ask myself how it can be possible that people can be so cruel. These animals put their complete trust in us and all they want to do is give love and be our companions. Some of these abused animals will still go up to their owners with their tails wagging! It just kills me.
Anyway, sorry for the long rant but I really had some imagery with your story. Such a horribly sad scenario but I am so so glad that they found their way to you because you clearly have the kind of heart and love to give them and having stability and a forever home is the best. And Lil' Bear really is a handsome devil!!! I love the picture of him with the rope!

| Wow- to see such lovers of all animals really warms the heart.. and thanks for all the lovely comments about our terrible trio. LOL They seriously do run our house and the alarm clocks are set to THEIR time. Debi- I agree with Angela.. your little duo are really precious! The faces on animals can tell so much about them.. and you can see they're so loved and cared for. AA- Oh, Sofie and son! How adorable! And as for the names.. OMG, I was laughing my ass off here! LOL BUNNY BUTT PORK SAUSAGE LINK! Bwahahahahahahaha! We do that too with our kids. Willow is often called (when she's being ornery, loud and demanding) the Peanut-Butter-Fluffer-Nutter Bitch. All in fun though! Ms Hottie- Aww.. Joxer! I LOVE that name! And I love the fact that he's color coordinated with his mamma.. such a GREAT picture! So sorry to hear about the lymphoma. Don't give up hope there. Our Maggie was diagnosed with it when she was six months old. I refused to believe it even though all the tests showed she had it. (I'm not suggesting this, but just telling you what I did) I stopped taking her to the vet and swore that she would never return until it was time. Well, that time didn't happen until 17 years later! BTW- LOVE LOVE LOVE that outfit, the picture composition, the attitudes... all of it! You go girl! There's something to be said about having animals around and the people who care for them. They're very special people with incredibly big loving hearts. It shows just from all the pictures and stories. Too many times I myself get very disgruntled when watching the news and seeing all the horror that goes on in the world today. I just gotta remember there's those special, big-hearted people out there too. | |

| Thank you so much Rob! I'm very fortunate that I work for a wonderful holistic vet and we've been able to supplement Joxer with some Chinese herbs and other things. It's been just under a year since his diagnosis and he's still feeling really well. I'm also fortunate to have a wonderful photographer as a best friend. It's very comforting to know that I've got many, many lovely photos of Joxer. | |

| LOL Rob! Peanut-Butter-Fluffer-Nutter Bitch! Fantastic!!
I remember the first time we added on to Sophie's name... She had just laid down and we couldn't help but to notice that her barrel had no curve to it - it was one long 'Sausage' shape. So, Sophie Lynn Sausage Link. Then we caught her snorting in her sleep (On more than one occasion!) led to Pork Sausage Link. As for Bunny-Butt... She gets to running so fast in order to chase her son (when he permits it! LOL) that her back end bounces just like a rabbit as her front end tries to keep up! It's a riot!
So there you have it: Sophie Lynn Bunny-Butt Pork Sausage Link!

| Oh dear.....which ones? HAHA. I have a dog, a cat, two ferrets, a rat and a mouse! The sad part is that this is the LEAST amount of critters I've had in my home at once! Oof! Okay...let's see... We'll go with the two that demand my attention the most. This is Murphy (AKA: Dropkick Murphy Hemmingway Sass) He knows he owns part of my soul, I swear.... And this is Tek (Sir Doum Doum Tekka Tek Sass) | |

Thanks! Actually, Murphy came from a breeder that I knew, but I didn't purchase him in the usual manner. (I'm actually a big supporter of rescuing!) He was the runt of the litter and wasn't selling. The breeder said she was going put him in a shelter is place an ad in the paper for a "Free to a good home." I loved him since the second I laid eyes on him, so he came home with me immediately. - AngloAngel wrote:

Tek is 25% Egyptian Rex and the other 75% is mixed 'barn cat.' He's enormous! I have no idea what was in that mix.

| Oh, all your stories melted my heart! You all have beautiful furkids. I’ve been an animal lover forever, but my parents weren’t, and so it took a good deal of begging when I was young for us to get a cat. We eventually got two, both rescues, and it fuelled my passion for caring for animals. I’m a foster mum for rescue cats & kittens, so I frequently have them come and go in my house. But my permanent little fluffy man is named Elyjah. He’s been a wonderful light in my life. | |

Wow Dancingfox,, I honestly think Tek is the most beautiful cat I have seen in a long time! Wow! My daughter would love a cat but I am allergic to them :=(
Angela, Thank you for the guidance, I was trying that but every time it keeps taking me to a free picture downloading site and trying to download this new site on my computer? Do not want any extra software or anything so i keep getting out of that... I am on a macbook and trying to upload a picture off my iphoto? I will keep trying? Maybe I need to try to resize it on iphoto? The only time i was able to do it was to make it my profile picture? I may do that again?
If so, This is our Guinea pig and she was a rescue. We adopted her about 1 year ago and she was about 1 years old at the time.... We all love her! Shes super sweet and pretty smart! She hears my feet in the morning when I wake up and she starts to whistle for her hay treat! She knows i am the food provider.. My daughter and husband wake up and she doesnt do that? She somehow knows our footsteps? I have the cleaning, food jobs.. The other two just get to play with her? lol
