Lavender Essential Oil & Sweet Creamy Vanilla

Offered as part of the General Catalog in Perfume oil. Occasionally available in Ganache.

Description: This perfume takes the wonderful calming fragrance of Lavender Essential Oil and pairs it with sweet creamy vanilla and smooth French Vanilla for the Solstice Scents' take on this ever popular combination. A relaxing and smooth blend for those who like their Lavender Essential Oil tempered by a sweet partner. The lavender essential oil starts out powerfully, then descends into the background as the creamy vanilla emerges. After some time on the skin, the vanilla takes center stage as the primary and lasting note, enhanced by a ghostly memory of lavender.

I really enjoy this; it's very comforting and soothing. A very soft, gentle lavender (no sharpness at all!) combined with a soft and creamy vanilla. It reminds me a tiny bit of marshmallows, but not quite. It has medium throw and medium wear length on me. Good for days when I feel frazzled, or when I just want to promote a feeling of calm and serenity.

PostSubject: Love the lavender   Sun Sep 25, 2011 8:00 pm

This is the scent that got me hooked on Solstice Scents! I was looking for a calming oil to use during a time of stress. I expected to enjoy the fragrance, but I was unprepared to fall completely in love! I wrote to Angela and said, 'I think this is literally the best thing I have ever smelled in my life.'

The lavender is pleasingly floral (not at all cloying) and clean, and the vanilla is deep and creamy, utterly delicious. I agree with obsidienne that there is something vaguely marshmallow-y about the scent, not exactly that it smells like marshmallows, but maybe it tickles the same part of the brain. I will use this scent for as long as Angela continues to make it. <3

Got and used a sample of this and ordered the full bottle... I was not sure I would like it somehow because I have smelt this combination before at retail stores and it was not my favorite. Thought I would try it and Solstice made it AMAZING!!!!!!!!! The scents bring out very pleasant memories for me personally.. lavender takes me back to when I lived in Switzerland and vanilla, well I just love vanilla and most all my scents have a vanilla in them.. This scent wet has a combination of the lavender and vanilla and when dry the lavender vaguely stays but the vanilla and I am not sure how to describe the actual scent on me but it is sooo nice!!!! Lavender can be funny sometimes in perfumes, after time it may smell musty... In this perfume it really doesnt! I think the ingredients are in a perfect marriage in this bottle... This is one of my favorites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cross-posted from the green:

The latest test was Lavender Vanilla. I'm not much of a lavender fan, but I've been attempting to try it in various blends to see if there might be a surprise hit, like Moo's Freyja. Angela's description was spot on once again since it was initially very heavy on the lavender, like "punch-you-in-the-face" heavy, but dried down to vanilla with a hint of lavender, which was lovely. Had it been the dry down all the way through, it would have been a winner for me.

Just got a sample of this and I love it. Feminine (definitely) and pretty - just the perfect go-to scent.

Lavender is iffy on me, but it's nice in this blend. I do find the lavender here to be a bit clean and herbal, but it doesn't turn soapy or sharp, and the vanilla sweetens it up nicely. It's cool, calming, and a little powdery on me. I actually find myself wishing that the lavender were stronger, as after about a half hour, this is mostly powdery, sweet vanilla on me. I'm not sure that I could even pick the lavender out at all in the drydown.

I became a Lavender Girl because of this ... wasn't one before! The lavender I've smelled before always had kind of a sharpness to it that I found disagreeable. This is very mellow because of the soft vanilla notes, though it's still very much a lavender scent. The vanilla doesn't overpower. Once again, a masterful job of blending by Angela! If you're not a "flower" person, or if you don't think you'd go for lavender, give this a try. If you like lavender, you"ll LOVE this one.

I tried this while back, but it seemed a bit sharp and herbal on my skin at the time. I decided to give it another whirl and am so glad I did! This time it was much more mellow, soft and comforting. Although it stays very close to the skin, it lasts almost all day. This is very pretty, calming, and looks like it may be my go-to for difficult days at work. Great stuff, this!

Lavender is my favourite flower and I absolutely adore the scent in any manner/combination. I know the smell of Lavender to some people comes across as medicinal, floor cleaner, or stale pot pourri bags. I really like herbal lavender, but I know a lot of people don't, so Lavender Vanilla should be a scent those people may enjoy.

I have to agree that the lavender at the beginning smells quite herbal and sharp like some other reviewers have noted, however the vanilla really pulls through and softens and blends it down really nicely. I can't explain this vanilla clearly as it's not something I've come across in other SS scents (I'm not a very big vanilla person, but do appreciate it from time to time.). It's reminiscent of vanilla cake frosting, and at times I find it to be quite a sugary note. However on the dry down the vanilla becomes softer and loses this foodie quality, and makes me think more of vanilla extract rather than vanilla frosting. The lavender seems to completely fade away at this stage.

I have this as a sample, but I'm not sure I want a full size, only because sweet/sugary types of scents do not appeal that strongly to me, and I was really hoping the lavender would stick around but it doesn't happen on my skin. I can definitely see many foodie/gourmand lovers appreciate this perfume Smile

I love this one! The lavender is much more tame here than in quiet night, and together with the vanilla it's a very pretty and wearable fragrance. The vanilla in this is dreamy! I love how calming this smells, and would wear it both during the day and to bed. This scent has easily become one of my all time Solstice Scents favorites!

This is wonderfully mellow, as you’d expect a blend of lavender and vanilla to be. They mix better than I’d expected them to, the fresh, herbal astringency of the lavender tamed by the smooth sweetness of the vanilla. They blend beautifully and dry down to a delightful lavender cupcake kind of scent. Wonderfully relaxing! Good one for aromatherapy.
