DESERT THUNDERSTORM
Desert Sage, Pinyon Pine & Resin, Petrichor, Sweetgrass, Creosote Bush, Sand, Ponderosa Pine, Smoke

IN ORDER TO PREVENT SKIN SENSITIZATION, DO NOT APPLY THIS PRODUCT DIRECTLY TO SKIN AFTER A HOT SHOWER OR BATH.  USE CAUTION APPLYING TO SENSITIVE AREAS SUCH AS THE NECK.  AS WITH ALL PERFUME, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO PERFORM A PATCH TEST PRIOR TO APPLYING ALL OVER TO CHECK FOR SENSITIVITY.

Notes of pinon resin, pinon pine, desert sagebrush, petrichor, sweetgrass, creosote bush, sand, rabbitbrush, ponderosa pine and smoke from a canyon fire. This blend contains pinon resin that we gathered in New Mexico. It also contains a variety of essential oils from desert plants in New Mexico and Utah from a small artisanal distiller. The blend is primarily composed of essential oils but also contains a few synthetics.

When first applied, you get a blast of rain and herbal sage, pine and a touch of creosote. It has a slight bit of High Desert odor but if High Desert were completely drowned in rain and had pinon, ponderosa and deep char notes. The smoke/fire accord is very resinous, like burning pitch. It is deep, not an acrid smoke or bbq but a thick sap on fire. It sits just at the base of this fragrance and is awash in rain and desert plants. The rain/creosote bush scent does not last for hours into the dry down aside from a trace but it is present for some time. The blend does eventually head more herbal and woody but there is no mistaking that through the whole wear of this perfume, you will pick up different desert elements. High Desert is more sage dominant but you can pick out the sage in Desert Thunderstorm as well. Since Desert Thunderstorm is primarily a natural blend, your mileage may vary as far as longevity but I find it is very powerful, especially on first spray - whew! - and lasts 5+ hours on our clothing tests and several hours on skin as well. I think it's throw and staying power is surprisingly close to our synthetic blends and I think it's performance is better than High Desert, for comparative reference.

Desert Thunderstorm - a vision of intensely focused awe, deeply inhaled breaths of gratitude and wonder. I had lofty expectations for this creation, and as it rises from my skin, I feel like I already knew it from a dream. It is exactly what I was hoping for - Angela's poetic description is exceptionally precise.
The opening is complex, a torrent of notes I can't truly recognize, and the mysterious symphony is absolutely exhilarating. I sense the humidity of hot stone steaming, slick from the sudden downpour, a cooling mineral note. As the perfume evolves and settles, the botanical elements begin to dominate with elegant simplicity.
The pinyon pine resin is the magic note for me. I bought a little pot of pinyon pine balm in Arizona many years ago, and this distinctive, intoxicating aroma glows within Desert Thunderstorm. The sweetgrass lends just the right velvet-soft balance to the composition. Delicate accents of smoke and sage are barely-there, finishing touches executed with refined grace. I am so deeply moved.
I can't wait for my dad to smell this! I will be shocked if he isn't moved to tears.

Desert Thunderstorm smells like someone ran through the desert and collected black dirt, sand, clippings of sage, wildflowers, brambles and pine, and distilled them all into this lovely, natural essence. I love the realistic, unusual earthiness and the way that it makes my skin smell as though I brushed up against a bunch of plants and their crushed leaves left their scent on me. It's not a lush green, but a dry, herbal, spiky desert plants sort of green. The warm, dry, earthy qualities make me so happy. It's outdoorsy, but dry & warm and... well, desert-like.

My husband really loves this scent too. I see a 60ml bottle in my future.

An atmospheric and realistic recreation of desert scrub and soil. I struggle to describe this any better than Angela does in her description. It is a landscape and ecosystem of scents that transports me to a specific moment in the life of our world.

AErisGaia eloquently describes how this scent makes me feel in a way that I don't feel I can add further to. The evolution of notes does indeed transform from earth scents to the vegetal notes as though the rain water hits the soil, drains away and the scent of refreshed and renewed plants release their oils into the air.

Effortless artistry again from Angela.
