I started small with my first order from the Winter Collection. I got a sample of Rice Pudding & Rum Soaked Raisins perfume, and one each of the Cedar & Siberian Fir and Spiced Cranberry & Spruce salts. (I also got the Snowshoe Pass and Chocolate Peppermint Bark ganaches, but they are gifts and I didn't open them)
The Cedar & Siberian Fir salts produced a nice and light woodsy smell - nothing too dark. I'd say if the Crumbling Crypt salts were too intense for you, you might like Cedar & Siberian Fir as an alternative.
I waffled on the Rice Pudding & Rum Soaked Raisins perfume sample - at first, I thought the drydown was nothing more than a standard burnt sugar kind of smell, but subsequent tests have demonstrated that the rice pudding (and especially the nutmeg that must be in there!) notes have more staying power. It is indeed a scent that wears nicely indoors by the fire. I will probably get a whole bottle of it.
And last but certainly not least...the Spiced Cranberry & Spruce salts. Let's just say that if I were a condemned woman, I'd forego the last meal and demand a last bath instead - in a giant tub with about three jars of the Spiced Cranberry & Spruce salts. They are that good. I like the salts in a slightly sweet presentation this time - you definitely get the cranberry essence on top of the spruce, but it's not fakey Yankee Candle cranberry at all. I felt like I was on Cape Cod floating in a cranberry bog, looking at trees overhead. Yeah, I'm getting more!
