What scent are you wearing today?

I'm thinking a layering thread would be neat, if you guys want. I also like Flintlock with Outpost because it tempers the sweetness in Outpost and adds that darker element.

I agree about the layering thread!

On the layering note, I layered Night Star and Manor today. Beautiful! Night Star can be a bit harsh on me in the beginning, and I think Manor tempers it out a bit. LOVE.

I started a thread for layering... called 'Layers and Layers of SS Goodness'... I just couldn't wait!

Outpost

Finally got around to trying it, and yeah, I think it's overthrown Snowshoe Pass for my favorite scent of the winter release

i do my sampling one on each wrist, and tucked into the crook of my elbow, so i get a lot of good combos right out of the gate that way. i discovered the manor/foxcroft combo when i got my gift set so it's already worn in pretty deep in my arsenal, LOL. when my gift set came i went for a soak to try everything. (i like to dive in head first and try EVERYTHING asap, just can't help it, no matter how mishmash it is.) it had foxcroft soak and manor burnishing glace, so when i wanted to add a bit of oil to the last half of my bath, i used my new pretty and voila, mancroft. (that sounds a bit like a porn name, i'm just sayin.)

i didn't love/"get" manor in my original sample and didn't order it initially, i snapped judgement and thought it was too sweet. (my problem is, i get four or five samples at once, i'm in a hurry to get my order in before the release is cleaned out and i instinctively feel like i have to winnow them down to 2-3 faves for budgets sake, i really need to stop conducting my sampling like job interviews!) but fell for it slowly i think because of that glace and the blending. so now when i'm so-so about a scent i've decided to start getting glaces if i can, that subtle shift in behavior from the parent FO makes a difference. i did the same thing with outpost, on me there's this odd "celery" note in the FO dry down that i gambled would be missing in the faster drying glace. i was right, and i'm warming up to it nicely as flint-post.

last night i took a long shower before bed and went all in on flintlock, which i sooo love. i did WS, glace, ganace, and FO head to toe. it was awesomeness and i slept like the dead, it was like wrapping up tight in one of my grandpa's flannel blankets. he was a long-haul trucker and smoked a pipe. he also like piney smells. when you wear it that way, yes it's big, yes it's pretty masculine, but at the same time it's winter blankets and unwashed flannel hunting jackets that have been stored in a big cabin cedar trunk with old candles and pinecones to keep the bugs away. those are my favorite cold weather smells. so this morning it had settled down and become something very soft and pervasive, and i didn't want to take off my jammies.

when i dressed i freshened up the scent with lovely night star. true to form i've fallen hard again for the perfume only scent in the release and i've been putting it on a couple of times a day all week trying to get my head wrapped around it well enough to describe it for my contest review. (the reason it's late and unfinished.) and it's just. so. frustrating. never the same notes twice, and what is there, so impossible to find words for. closest i've come so far is patchouli and toothpaste, but i don't think that's what angela is after, and it definitely wouldn't attract anyone to the scent, though it should. it's just one of those girls you're supposed to shut up and dance with i think, and don't overthink it to much. maybe i should just say that in my review and be done with it...

Russian Caravan this morning, followed by a refresher of Travelers later in the afternoon. They both make me want to grab a knapsack and go wandering.

Yesterday was Outpost, which is an lovely combo of sweetness and evergreen on me. It's very hushed and comforting.

I've been loving Scrying Smoke lately. It's funny, because I wasn't a fan of the scent when I originally got a sample of it about a year ago, but now I love it. It's mysterious, yet calming and great for the cold weather, as it's name implies. I guess my tastes have evolved! Angela makes incense blends like no other.

I wore a combo of Witch's Cottage & Manor on my wrists, and Black Mallow on my neck/collarbone. It was a chilly, dreary day here in Houston, and this scent combo made me feel like this -->

OCM plus Flintlock

Monster Mash, often layered with other scents, is my go-to of late. Today it's just Nag Champa.

Today, I layered Spellbound Woods and Sandalwood Vanilla.

Today I layered Pharaoh (Glace) with Amber...Yum.
